In addition to an ever-changing programme of events held in the local villages, country parks, nature reserves and galleries (see calendar below), this area hosts some special annual festivals that celebrate the rich heritage and culture of the area.

The Robin Hood Festival, a free event, is held every August and attracts thousands of people who come in search of a taste of Robin Hood's Sherwood. Read more about it here.

The Wellow May Day celebrations are held every Spring Bank Holiday. Come along and witness the crowning of the May Queen, maypole dancing and other festivities.

The Ollerton St George's Day Celebrations were held recently for the third year running. This a new festival has been an outstanding success and it looks like it will become a regular custom. The event is organised by the Ollerton St George's Day Celebrations Committee. Take a look at some of the photographs from the first year here.
